Queensland’s prospectivity

Queensland is Australia’s and one of the world’s largest producers of zinc, lead and silver. It ranks second in Australia as a copper producer and bauxite producer, and is also an important producer of gold, mineral sands, phosphate and magnesite.

Exploration is the life blood of the state’s mining sector and the Queensland Government has recognised the pivotal role mining plays in the State’s economy through committing to exploration and mining support programs such as the Collaborative Drilling Initiative and the Future Resources Program.

To find out more, the latest edition of the Queensland Government Mining Journal is now available online.
